A quarter of 2016 has flashed by already yet you may have the sense that all your good intentions and goals have already been eclipsed by the ongoing daily demands of living a human life: work that fatigues, people – family, friends, colleagues, strangers who drain, to do lists that switch you onto high alert until the next thing thing is ticked off. Always something.
Pushed and pulled by these currents that make up your life, it’s easy to stray far from the very things that could nourish and replenish you – the breath that’s always there for you, a body yearning for some form of joyful movement and embodied practise, and activities that totally absorb us in concentrated fascination and joy.
Different things for different people – but something, at least, that anchors you in the joy of being comfortable with yourself. Nothing to achieve and nobody to strive to be but your own precious self with your unique blend of neuroses, gifts and talents.
Spring is the real new year, and in that spirit it’s the ideal time to commit to that yoga class you’ve been meaning to attend for umpteen years or that mindfulness course or day retreat you’ve always wanted to take.
Make 2016 the year that you stood at the helm of your own life and begin to steer it in direction of your dreams.
