In 1993, I packed myself off on a round-the-world trip. The heaviest item in my 55 ltr backpack was guilt about those I was leaving behind. I had planned for this trip for five years. Travelling, seeing the world, made me happy then.
In spite of the guilt, I was looking forward to places I’d long dreamed of: India, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, the USA. My body and mind needed the break from work and obligations to others. I was worried about what would face me on my return but an inner rumble signaled that something needed to change. I buckled my seat belt and off I went into the unknown.
S-L-O-W-I-N-G down, travelling through untamed nature, sharing journeys, life, adventure and joy with others refreshed my whole being. The most important thing I learned is that there is a benevolent force that guides me if I had only been still long enough to recognise it!
I’ve noticed that when mind and body are aligned in whatever brings you genuine joy, then most things in life fall in to place with relative ease.
Perhaps for some time now you too have been yearning for a little time out to re-calibrate your life BUT there’s the childcare, chores, errands, meals to organise, family/work/social obligations – and did I say guilt?! Or perhaps you believe you’re too old, too stiff and besides you need a B and B as you live further afield and…besides it’s too stressful to squeeze another thing into an already crammed week. The mind and its constant babble, eh?!
Well, you may not have time for a round-the-world trip right now, but there is time to add in some mindful space, a day away from the usual routine, at one or two yoga retreats that I will be leading in the autumn and winter in the lush surroundings of a grand house and gardens, Rownhams House, just outside Southampton in Hampshire.
Autumn and winter are ideal times to de-clutter body and mind, establish a deeper, authentic connection to yourself and, just as nature does, cut back, let go and release the jaded and unnecessary so there is space to plant seeds of new intentions that will bloom and flourish in the spring. I will guide you through the process of letting go and re-committing to your heart’s desires.
Mindful Moon Mini-Retreats
I’d love for you to join me for these nurturing retreats where within a small, select group I will:
- Teach you yoga moves with a mindful tone to gently squeeze and release tension from your body and energy centres
- Take you into a deep, healing relaxation journey to unlock your joie de vivre and creative flow
- Offer you a wholesome Ayurvedic inspired lunch and snacks to cleanse and nourish both body and mind – flavours to nourish the body’s energy centres
- Guide a mindfulness meditation followed by time to journal, set intentions for the coming months, explore the woods, lake and lawns, relax and share with others
- Join a closed Mindful Moon online group to stay in touch with others after the retreat and share with each other
So, get on it and plan your happiness by making those arrangements that will release you for a day or two and, if you’re not Hampshire based, to book your travel and B and B to make a weekend of it in the nearby New Forest and Hampshire countryside. You could even bring a friend to share the adventure with you!

4 weeks before retreat date – No refund
2 months before retreat date – 75% refund
3 months before retreat date – Refund less 10% admin charge
In the event that your cancelled space is taken by another, a full refund will be given less a 10% admin charge.
