There were times this week when the state of the world felt like a worry that wrapped me tightly in its angst and threatened never to let go.
So, I share a poem from one of my favourite poets about joy – it’s a healthy antidote to fear and a useful habit to create and, as a very wise friend once told me, we need to plan it into each day, just as we would make appointment in the diary.
by Dana Faulds
joy for no reason save
the fact that I’m alive.
the message I receive
is clear – there’s no time
to lose from loving, no
place but here to offer
kindness, no day but this
to be my true, unfettered
self and pass the flame
from heart to heart. This
is the only moment that
exists – so simple, so
exquisite, and so real.
Here’s what one lovely person said about last week’s class:
“Thanks for helping me chill (physically and mentally) on such a hot and sticky Monday.”
Whether you join me or class or find joyfulness elsewhere, don’t forget to make your appointment, especially if you’re glum or jittery – it may make all the difference to the week.
Keep it kind and be well,
Yasmin x
